Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw reported 5 new deaths attributed to COVID-19 over the past three days and 257 new cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
Hinshaw made the announcement on Monday during a briefing about the province’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
She said 108 COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday, 101 new cases were reported on Saturday and 48 cases of the disease were reported on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 1,090.
“It is a reminder that COVID continues to be with us and we cannot turn our backs on this virus,” she said.
Hinshaw said 66 people are currently in hospital with COVID-19, including 14 in intensive care.
