There has been a new surge in coronavirus infections in Europe after an early summer decline.
Italy reported over one-thousand new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. This is the highest daily tally since a lockdown was lifted there in May. The total number of infections in the country is over 258-thousand now. Another hard-hit European country, the U-K, recorded nearly 13-hundred new infections. This marked the third straight day that new cases remained above one thousand there. Almost 325-thousand people have tested positive for the virus in the U-K so far. Ireland, meanwhile, reported more than 100 daily cases for the fourth time in eight days.
