British Columbia reported only eight new cases of COVID-19 in the province on Tuesday, as well as four additional deaths, bringing the total number of cases to 2,232.
B.C.’s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry confirmed the number of cases during her daily briefing alongside Health Minister Adrian Dix.
The number of new cases is the lowest total since March 13.
Henry also said Tuesday that an outbreak at Lynn Valley Care Centre, a North Vancouver long-term care home where the first cases of COVID-19 were reported in the province on March 7, has been declared over.
On Monday, Dr. Henry said if B.C. can continue to keep social interactions at around 35-40 per cent of normal it should stop recording new cases by mid-June.
