Prince Edward Island released its COVID-19 projections on Tuesday, which show by June 1 they expect nine deaths and 120 hospitalizations under the current control measures in place.
The province's chief medical officer of health Dr. Heather Morrison said that under little control measures, the province could see 900 deaths in the same time period, with 14,000 hospital admissions, of which 3,250 acute care beds would have been needed. Under the current strict measures, only 120 hospitalizations are projected, with only 15 acute care beds needed.
Morrison stressed modelling projections are not "crystal balls," but says it shows the province's actions have made a difference. She added they hope to come back every two weeks with updated models.
