고3 예정대로 20일 등교…학교 방역 준비상황은?

Schools in South Korea are gradually opening after months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic... and high school seniors are among the first to go back to regular lessons.
They go back to school tomorrow. Today on the eve of the big day, school were busy getting ready for the new normal in the COVID-19 era.
Our Jang Tae-hyun went out to check it out.
High school seniors will finally start the new school year this Wednesday...and begin their college entrance exam preparations.
But, upon entering the school building, all students must wear face masks and use hand sanitizer.
A thermal imaging camera set up at the entrance will sound an alarm if a student's temperature exceeds 37-point-five degrees Celsius.
Then, after being transferred to a separate room, a school nurse will check the student once again and ask a parent or guardian to take them home if their temperature doesn't drop back down.
Then, when in the classroom, students will be seated 2 meters apart.
When high school seniors come back to school, this will be the new normal in the COVID-19 era.
But, efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 extend beyond the classroom and into the cafeteria as well.
During lunch break is the only time of the day when students are allowed to take off their masks but they are not permitted to talk to their peers.
Every class will have their own designated lunch time and plastic dividers will separate the students from one another whilst eating. They are also advised to bring their own cutlery.
Even if some students are forced to miss school, they can still get their attendance checked. That is, if they are confirmed with COVID-19, show symptoms, are under quarantine, or if any members of their family have come from overseas over the past 14 days. In addition, those who have any respiratory illnesses or have a temperature of over 37-point-five degrees can get their attendance checked from home.
While there are exceptions and online classes, attendance is largely mandatory for high school seniors...such as those studying vocational courses, like the arts or physical education.
