Coronavirus: Description video

Watch the video “Thai resort island of Phuket in mass COVID-19 vaccination drive ahead of tourism reopening” and like it!

Phuket has jumped ahead of Thailand's COVID-19 vaccination queue. The resort island is embarking on a mass inoculation programme two months before the rest of the country. It's all part of an effort to kick start Thailand's lucrative tourism industry. Before the pandemic, spending by foreign tourists accounted for about 12% of Thailand's GDP. Come July, overseas visitors who have been vaccinated will no longer be required to quarantine. Phuket has its own international airport, so tourists will be able to roam the island freely without posing a risk to the rest of Thailand's population.
