The COVID-19 pandemic has dealt another blow to the system of international cooperation, which had been tested repeatedly in the past years. With dramatically reduced migration and trade flows, and with national governments taking response efforts into their own hands, many question the usefulness of international institutions, including the World Health Organization. At the same time, as the global efforts to develop a vaccine illustrate, international cooperation is now more important than ever. This event, featuring Spanish Deputy Foreign Minister Manuel Muñiz and AEI scholars Dalibor Rohac and Stan Veuger, will offer reflections on what this crisis means for the future of “global governance” and international institutions.

Join AEI for a wide-ranging conversation on the future of the transatlantic relationship, the economy of the European Union, and Spain’s management of the ongoing public health threat.
